But before you go thinking that's the important part of the story I've got news for you...it isn't.

There are really three issues at work. The first is the test itself. It could be, as some teachers claim, a problem with the test.

There is also a teacher shortage problem in North Carolina. This brings up a very important economic principle we need discuss. In a free market, there should never be a shortage of anything. There is always a scarcity of goods and services but there should never be a shortage.

The third is the near monopoly on education the government has when it comes to teaching everyone who isn't wealthy. In fact, this near-total control has created distortions in the market that we can fully understand. I'm going to try and share some of them with you on the show today and explain how the entire education system might change if we made a few minor adjustments.

It's a decent show today despite the slow news day. Tune in!
