This is a follow up post to my previous one on installing privacy film on windows and glass doors on your house for added security / privacy and even to help save some money on cooling in the summer. 

Here is an easy way to increase home privacy or even security with only spending minimal amount of money. Have you seen those buildings that the windows look like mirrors, well they are essentially a mirror known as a 1 way mirror. You can buy the film from amazon  at - https://amzn.to/2Juyrek. It comes in different darknesses to which is the amount of light that it lets in. The lower the number the less light that it lets in and gives the tint effect. The way that a one way mirror works is that which ever side has the most light will have the mirror effect and the other side will be translucent so that you can see out but they cannot see in. I was able to install this by myself on my office window and my patio door window.

You co not need any special tools or formulas to install this. All you need are the included tools, a generic spray bottle and some generic liquid dish soap.

Here is how you can light your charcoal grill or your charcoal smoker without having to use any lighter fluid. I have been using this method for a few years now, and the one time that I did use lighter fluid the food had a tate of lighter fluid, even when I only used a small amount. 

To use this method you only need a few items. 

First you need a charcoal chimney starter

you also need some paper (news paper works just fine). An option item is to use some inexpensive vegetable oil. The vegetable oil will cause the paper to burn slower, but the more oil you use, the smokeir it will be. 

Take your news paper (if you plan to use vegetable oil, place some before you crumple the paper), or other paper product and crumple it into a ball and place it under the charcoal chimney starter

Place your chimney starter on the top rack of your grill / smoker, fill it up with your choice of charcoal and light it from the bottom with either a match or a lighter. 

Wait about 10 - 15 minutes and it shoudl be ready to go.

One thing that I do not like about fall is all the leaves that are in my yard and blow all over the place. I like to keep them cleaned up because if I leave them in my yard all winter long, it will kill the grass from being compacted down, so I will blow the leaves into the street and go along with my leaf vacuum and clean them all up. The little bag attachment that came with it will hold maybe 10 leaves and then fill up, which is a pain. So, I purchased an attachment for the Black & Decker leaf blower / vacuum that I took the end off of it to expose the hose and then put a hose clamp on the end (a 4 or 5 inch clamp). Now this will fit on the end of my leaf vacuum and it will suck up the leaves and then put the mulched up leaves into my 30 gallon garbage can that I can now eaily empty into my lawn refuse bin, or when that is full easily put them into lawn refuse bags to be picked up. I will also give them to my neighbors that want to use them for their gardens or to place around their flowers for the winter or anyone that wants the mulch.

If I am using the lawn refuse bags, I also use this little contraption that I picked up for about $10.00 or so  that makes dumpin the leaves from my 30 gallon wast bin into the refuse bag, to which it is called the Leaf and Lawn Chute

Is your computer running slow? does it randomly shut down when you are on it and then start right back up again?
There could be many different reasons for that, and one of them could be a heat issue.
What kind of heat issue you ask? well, if your processor gets too hot your computer should automatically shut down to prevent damage.
One reason why a processor can get too hot is if the heatsink is covered in dust. Since dust will insulate and prevent the fan from removing the heat,
it can get too hot. Over time all computer fans, heatsinks, liquid cooled radiators, etc will build up in dust and hair.
One easy way to remedy this is by removing the dust, etc. from your PC to allow it to cool efficently again.
If you do not feel comfortable opening up your PC, that is fine. You can find someone who is experienced, or you can bring it to your local computer shop
One thing that you can clean out without opening it up is the power supply. That should have vents on the back of it, and maybe even a fan and you should also have vents on the back of your PC
and possibly fans also. One caveat to this, is that you may blow the dust from your power supply, into your computer.

The tools that you will need is just either a air compressor with a blowing like nozzle, or a can of canned air.
You can even get a lint free cloth to remove any build up of dust blankets from your PC. If you do open up your PC, make sure that you leave it plugged in.
The reason for this is that so you can ground yourself when you have it open and reduce the chances of ESD (Electro Static Discharge), which will fry your computer instantly even if you do not feel
the static electricty jump from you to your PC (same concept if you rub your feet on a carpet floor and then touch something metal).

Once again, if you do not feel comfortable doing this, then dont. Bring it to someone who is experienced with this.

Cauliflower rice is something that I keep seeing at the store to which to me is nothing more than just over priced cauliflower that you can easily make at home. You can make this out of a head of cauliflower or sometimes it may be cheaper to buy the frozen cauliflower florets in the frozen section of your store. 

All that you need to make this is:

• Cauliflower
• Food Processor   or something like a Ninja

Directions:

1. If you are using a full head of cauliflower, trim off the florets and place into your Food Processor or Ninja
2. Blend or process it until it resembles rice like consistency. 
3. That is all.

There are a few things that you can do to help protect your data and keep your data from prying eyes.
One of the easy things that you can do, is just to quit using the internet but nobody is going to do that. The other thing that you could do is use a 3rd party service called a VPN. VPN stands for Virtual Private Network and what that means per Wikipedia is " is a virtualized extension of a private network across a public network, such as the Internet. It enables users to send and receive data across shared or public networks as if their computing devices were directly connected to the private network. Applications running across the VPN may therefore benefit from the functionality, security, and management of the private network"
The nice thing about VPN's is that some are really good and out of the really good ones they can also be fairly affordable as well. Some will work on a wide array of devices from windows based computers, Android phones, iPhones , Macintosh computers and even routers. The features of the VPN will vary also as well as how many connections you can have.
If you are wondering what I mean by how many connections you can have, that refers to how many concurrent connections the VPN will allow to be run at the same time. Lets say that you have 2 laptops and 2 smart phones and you buy a VPN service that allows 2 connections. This would mean that you could install the VPN service on all your devices, but only 2 can be connected to the VPN service at the same time. You also do not have to be connected to the VPN service 100% of the time either.
If you have a lot of devices and you do not want to pay a lot to have them protected, or some devices that you just cannot install a VPN service to there are other options. Some of these options include installing a VPN service directly onto your router (note that this will usually consist of installing a 3rd party operating system directly onto your router, to which can void your warranty on your router. I do not suggest you do this unless you know exactly what you are doing), or you can buy a router that is already configured to work with a VPN service, or one that has the 3rd party software installed, to which is usually DD-WRT or Tomato.
The benefit of having the VPN run on the router is that anything that is connected to your network will be going thru the VPN all the time as long as the VPN service is working.
There are a lot of VPN services out there and in this post I am going to go over just a few, and in a later post I will go over each of them. All of the VPN services I have personally used and all of them I do like.

The first one is NordVPN

The unlimited devices plan is a really great thing if you want to secure all the mobile devices in your househould as well as your computers as well. 

Some of what SurfShark backs up to what they do is :

• VPN servers you use;

In a later post, I will go over how to install and configure the above VPN clients.

If not being able to be tracked is the utmost secuirty for you, then a single VPN client will not suffice for your needs. In that event you will need at least 2 VPN clients, which they should be seperate companies. 

1 VPN service should be running on your Router and it should also be using your VPN service's DNS servers as well. 

The other VPN serviceshould be running on your computer / devices as well. 

Note that doing this will cause your internet speeds to be fairly slow. If you wanted yet another layer of protection, cascade another router to your main router and have different VPN services running on both (This can be done) and have 1 VPN service using TCP and the other VPN service using UDP. Then have another VPN service on your devices for a total of 3 VPN services running. This will result in your internet to be extremly slow and some pages may not work correctly, but it can be done. 

Some of the terms used in this post

Double VPN - With Double VPN, the connection is A – VPN Server 1 – VPN Server 2 – B. First, the traffic is protected with the military-grade encryption between the user's device and the first VPN server. Then it's encrypted again on its way to the second VPN server. In other words, the connection goes through two different servers in different locations: once traffic gets encrypted on the first one, IP changes and gets re-encrypted on the second server in another location. In the end, you get enhanced encryption, security and anonymity.

SOCKS5 Proxy - A proxy server functions as an intermediary between your device and the Internet. Any traffic directed through a proxy server will look as if it came from its IP address rather than yours. Unlike VPN servers, proxy servers do not encrypt the traffic passing through them, which saves resources and allows accepting simultaneous connections from much larger numbers of users.

SOCKS5 proxy servers are very flexible and compatible with all kinds of Internet traffic, including POP3 and SMTP for emails, FTP for uploading files to websites, and P2P. As a result, they're very popular among users who don't need advanced security and encryption but do require the privacy and flexibility achieved by replacing their IP addresses. They are also noticeably faster than services with encryption.

Dedicated IP – With this service, one is assigned a single IP that is for your own use only.  This is especially useful when accessing secure corporate, banking, or IP restricted websites or servers. It's possible to activate your own Dedicated IP VPN in the country of your choice so that each time you login to that VPN Server, you will be assigned the dedicated IP automatically.

Shared IP – With shared IP VPN's, you are assigned multiple static, shared IP's that are being used by hundreds (or thousands) of clients simultaneously. Because the same IP is being shared by such a large pool of users, it in turn offers more anonymity for the end user.  

Own DNS Server - When you use a VPN service, the DNS request should instead be routed through the VPN tunnel to your VPN provider's DNS servers (rather than those of your ISP). However, it is common for  some devices (computers, routers, smart phones, etc..) to instead use its default settings, and send the request to the ISP's DNS server rather than through the VPN tunnel. This is known as a DNS leak, and if it happens then it results in your ISP being able to track your internet movements, regardless of whether you are using a VPN or not.

TCP -  is one of the main protocols of the Internet protocol suite. It originated in the initial network implementation in which it complemented the Internet Protocol (IP). Therefore, the entire suite is commonly referred to as TCP/IP. TCP provides reliable, ordered, and error-checked delivery of a stream of octets between applications running on hosts communicating by an IP network. Major Internet applications such as the World Wide Web, email, remote administration, and file transfer rely on TCP. Applications that do not require reliable data stream service may use the User Datagram Protocol (UDP), which provides a connectionless datagram service that emphasizes reduced latency over reliability.

UDP -  is one of the core members of the Internet protocol suite. The protocol was designed by David P. Reed in 1980 and formally defined in RFC 768. With UDP, computer applications can send messages, in this case referred to as datagrams, to other hosts on an Internet Protocol (IP) network. Prior communications are not required in order to set up transmission channels or data paths.

VPN - VPN encrypts your data connection, making it harder or impossible for prying eyes to see what you are doing online. If you make your own chicken broth, or if you buy chicken broth, here is a very easy way for you to take chicken broth / stock and make chicken bouillon out of it. 

It is a very easy process to do. Basically just take about 6 cups of chicken broth / stock and put it into a large pan and cook on medium high until it starts to boil, then turn down the heat. 

Let it simmer for a few hours, stirring it every once in a while until it reduces to a syrup like consistency. 

You will known when it gets to a syrup like consistency when you can take a rubber spatula and run a line in it and it does what the above picture shows. 

At this point you want to watch it so that it does not burn. 

Cook it down for a bit longer until it becomes almost like a thick syrup like

Now you can take it off the heat and I will usually put this into ice cube trays. From there you can freeze them and once they are solid enough to work with , bag and seal them. 

Note that if you make your own, they more than likely will never actually become 100% frozen. They will be firm, but because of the fat in them they will not freeze all the way. 

Ingredients:

• 6 or more cups of home made chicken broth, or you can buy chicken broth

Directions :

1. In a large large pan, add the home made chicken broth or  store bought chicken broth
2. Turn the heat up to a medium high. 
3. When the chicken broth starts to boil, turn the heat down and using a rubber spatula stir every once in a while. 
4. When the chcken broth turns into a syrup like consitency, turn the heat down a bit more and stir a bit more frequently. 
5. When the chicken broth becomes a heavy like syrup, remove from heat and either add to ice cube trays
6. Once they have been in the freezer long enough, you can remove them and bag them and seal them.

I like to make my own broth / stock, mainly because I know what goes into it. It is even better when I can do it with farm fresh meats. I will usually make a bit of different kinds of broth / stock and store them into my freezer, sealed as that way I do not have to worry if it is gluten free or not (and not get myself and my daughter sick), nor do I have to worry about anything that may be in the stock.I know that I have at least 10 cups of each on hand in my freezer, and by cooking a roast you can easily save the juices and make your own stock. 

This only needs a few ingredients to make, and the nice thing is that you control what goes into it.
Basically just need a crock pot, crock pot liner, a whole chicken, onion if you want and maybe either celery or some other vegetable (such as carrots). 

All that you need to do is take the whole chicken and place it into the crock pot, add the amount of vegetables that you want to add to it (for flavoring), then cook it on low for 10 hours, then save the juices left over. Those can be bagged and sealed and placed in your freezer. 

Ingredients:

• Whole Chicken
• crock pot liner  (optional)
• Vegetables (onions, carrots, celery, etc.. ) - optional

Directions: 

1. Place a crock pot liner in your crock pot
2. Place the Whole chicken inside of your crock pot
3. add any vegetables that you want to
4. add 3 cups of water
5. cook the Whole chicken on low for 8 - 10 hours. 
6. Once the chicken is done, grab a large bowl  add a colander into it. Remove the chicken and place into the colander (you may want some spatulas as it may fall apart)
7. Once the juices have drained, move the chicken to a cutting board and do what you want with it (cut it up for dinner, use it in another recipes, etc.. )
8. Remove the crock pot liner with the chicken stock / broth  inside of it. 
9. Drain the chicken stock / broth  into the colander that is inside of the  bowl
10. Place in your fridge overnight to allow the fat to solidify. 
11. Remove the fat (if you want) and then place in bags to seal.

7. In a large bowl  add a colander
8. Remove the crock pot liner with the beef broth inside of it. 
9. Drain the beef broth into the colander that is inside of the  bowl
10. Place in your fridge overnight to allow the fat to solidify. 
11. Remove the fat (if you want) and then place in bags to seal.

Here is a simple recipe to make your own laundry detergent which can save you not only money, but can also help with scenting it the way that you want   (or scent free if you wish) and it may also help for those that have sensitivity issues to detergent (want to test it first to be sure)

For this you need just 3 (4 technically) ingredients

• 3/4 cup of Super Washing Soda
• 3/4 cup of 20 mule team borax
• 3/4 cup liquid dish soap

1. In a container, add the dry ingredients into a gallon container.
2. Add 3-4 cups of hot water and mix until it is a milky color. 
3. Fill the rest of the gallon container with cold water. 
4. Add 3/4 cup of liquid dish soap  (you can use any dish soap. If you want a natural one such as Method or other brands)
5. You can add a few drops of essential oils if you want to have it scented.
