Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.5 holster - unboxing

I just received this holster in the mail a few days ago and I thought it would be a good time to do a short video on unboxing it to get some inital reactions of this new holster. Alien Gear has come out with a newer version of their cloak tuck line holsters which seems to mergeparts of the cloak tuck 3.0 technology with some of the great benefits that the Alien Gear shapeshift holster has.

Some initial reactions to this new holster is that the hardware to move the clips to different posistions is no longer needed as well as the screws and spacers for those as they now use the locking style clips from the shapeshift holster, which is a very nice additions. The padding on the cloak tuck 3.5 is also a lot thicker than it was in the 3.0 line for added comfort and the neoprene backer seems to be thicker.

Since the clips for this holster use the same locking technology that the shapeshift holsters use, if you already have extra clips for the shapeshift holsteryou can use them with this holster as well, to which can save you some money.

If you are just looking at buying this holster, I would suggest purchasing the extra clips to save money on shipping. They do now have clips that can aidin the concealment so that it is harder to see that you are carrying, which is a very nice addition.

I will be doing a follow up review of this holster after I have carried it with me every day for at least a month. I will also do a follow up review after a yearto see what my thoughts of it are.

The cloak tuck 3.5 holster can be purchased from Alien Gear at

Alien Gear ShapeShift Holster Review

A while ago I did a review on the holsters that I have had and used over time -
and then I did a review on just the alien gear holsters that I had, to which were the cloak tuck 3.0, to which I used those for a few years -
This review is on their newest holster, the ShapeShift Modular Holster.

This holster is more expensive as I bought the start kit for this. While this is more expensive than buying a cloak tuck 3.0 holster, this holster is really 3 holsters in one
The 3 holsters in one is because with the start kit

  • you can do a OWB style holster (either by a belt slide or by a paddle)
  • you can also do a IWB style holster
  • you can also do an appendix carry style holster.

There is also a free mounting backet that you can mount in your car, under your desk or anywhere basically so that you can have the holster shell positioned anywhere you want it to be.

The adjusting of this holster is a lot easier than their previous holster as there is no need for the hex key wrench anymore to adjust anything. To adjust the height of the clips all you have to do is turn them so that they then release and you can then adjust the height.

If you want to adjust the retention, you use one of the knob thingies that keep the holster in place

to adjust the retention, so this holster you can literally adjust it while out in the field and not have any tools with you.

When it comes to comfort, this is by far my favorite one. This holster for the IWB is samller than their cloak tuck 3.0 holster and it just feels stronger and seems to have more padding
in it.

There is even a thumb release on it so that the gun will lock into place, to which when pressed you can pull the gun out of the holster then, which could be nice for if you have it mounted in your car, under your desk or even for a OWB carry.

As always Alien Gear has a 30 day money back guarantee on their holsters and they offer a lifetime warranty on the holster as well.
You can purchase or look more at this holster at
or you can buy it on Amazon at

Unboxing the new Alien Gear Shape Shift Holster

Here is a video unboxing the Alien Gear Shapeshift Holster start kit, the holster kit that can transform from a IWB to OWB, to Apendix carry and even mount it under a desk
The video below shows everything that you can expect to come in the box when you order a starter kit, with the exception of the extra mounting bracket and the double magazine holsters
I will have a review of the Shapeshift holster up soon.

I did a review a while ago on a few holsters that I have used either currently or in the past, to which that review can be found at

This time I took a bit more look at the Alien Gear holsters, to which I now have a few of them (both right and left handed holsters) and the later ones have improvements over the first cloak tuck 3.0. In the first review I had mentioned that the clips were a bit flimsy, and to my surprise, Alien Gear commented on the video stating that they have made their clips much stronger now and that I can contact their suport department to get new clips.. How awesome is that!

In this video I had mentioned that the shipping on the first holsters had take a while to get to me, to which I have ordered from them a few times since then and have never had that issue again. I think that was an isolated incident to where they were experiencing a large influx of orders.

The holsters are very sturdy, I carry them all the time and they are the ones that I use. I will swap between 2 of them depending on what I want to carry that day, but they all get worn for at least 8 hours if not more and they also get worn when I am out hunting.

Some holsters that I have used are very uncomfortable, but these are definately comfortable as some times I dont even know that I am carrying my gun on me.

One thing that I like is that you can buy a single holster and buy additional "shells" for your holster so that one single holster with additional shells can work for many different types of guns. Some of the other things that they sell for the holsters are :

The one thing that I completely forgot to mention in the first part of the video, but is in the 2nd part, is that you can adjust the height of the holster as there are 3 holes on each side. If you want it to rest higher or lower, all you need to do is remove the clip and put it into the height that fits your needs. Not only can you adjust either the front height, the back height, the total height but you can also adjust the retention of the shell as well. They provide additiaonl rubber washers to where you can completely adjust the retention of the shell to fit your needs. These holsters are not only comfortable, but they are 100% customizable.

If you head over to their homepage, you can see about 1/4 the way down they have some animated graphics on to what this all looks like and to what you can adjust.

They just start to carry magazine holsters, to which I had wished that their holsters had them built in, but to now have a good IWB magazine holster is great to which I may buy one soon and if I do, I will do a review on that. I will also do a review on the gun belt that I bought from Alien gear as well.

They have a deal on their website that starts at $48.00 for 2 holsters and the price goes up for what additions that you make to them, to which I see as a great deal. I cannot go into most gun stores and buy a cheap holster for the price that Alien Gear is charging for 2 of them.

The holsters that I have reviewed from Alien Gear have all been IWB or Inside the Waist Band, they do carry OWB or Outside the Waist Band holsters also

Review of the holsters that I own.
The holster that I bought off of e-bay was a concealedcarryconcept brand which was $35.00 and it is made for the specific gun concealed carry concept

The Alien Gear holsters are also made for the specific gun. Their prices vary, but they do have excellent deals if you buy 2 holsters
Or at Amazon - Cloak Tuck 3.0 - Alien Gear Holsters The Galco one can be bought just about anywhere
