The Jason Stapleton Program - 596: Why Justin Amash Says He Voted for Obamacare Lite

This is another podcast from one of the many podcasts that I like to listen to. This one is from the Jason Stapleton Program, definately worth a listen!

596: Why Justin Amash Says He Voted for Obamacare Lite

"

Last week Rep. Amash wrote a two-page letter explaining why he voted for the Republican healthcare modification to Obamacare.

Darren and I are divided over his comments. Well, not really decided since I can't argue any of the points he made on today's show.
I'm jus a little less critical than he is.

We ask our representatives to treat liberty as a primary political value and always to vote in a way that takes us closer to liberty. Did Justin Amash do that? I'll let you be the judge.

Texas is set to open its own gold depository. This is shockingly good news. It means Texans (and maybe the rest of us) will be able to deposit gold into the depository and use it as real money through checking and debit accounts.

I'll read you the story today. My information is limited, but I'm going to see about getting an expert on the show to talk us through what it all means.

On the plus side, we talk a little about fractional reserve banking in today's episode which should give you a much clearer picture of how banking works.

The Jason Stapleton Program - 595: Net Neutrality is a Scam

This is another podcast from one of the many podcasts that I like to listen to. This one is from the Jason Stapleton Program, definately worth a listen!

595: Net Neutrality is a Scam

"

Should every restaurant in America be a buffet? Should every letter you send cost the same whether you send it priority or bulk mail? Should all internet subscription cost the same no matter what your speeds?

That's the argument those who support net neutrality are making. Proponents have done a remarkable job of muddying the waters and making this new infringement on our liberty as difficult to understand as possible, but it is really quite simple.

Net neutrality is the brainchild of some very large internet companies (think Google and Netflix) who want to legislate price protections for themselves at the expense of small startups.

Now if that sounds like the exact opposite of what you've heard then those who favor net neutrality have done their job.

Today I'm going to destroy the net neutrality argument and tell you the truth. It won't change the minds of those who have already sold out to the idea that the internet needs regulation but hopefully, if you're not sure what to believe, you'll walk away with a better understanding of what's really happening.

594: Free College Tuition without Taxation?

"

I know it might sound crazy, but there are ways to provide college to everyone without compulsive taxation. North Carolina's Governor is trying to do just that. Today we'll talk through what it might look like.

Republicans passed their healthcare ammendment and it's all the media can talk about. I doubt it will pass the senate without serious amendment. Those changes will likely ensure it's demise when it gets back to the house.

Great show today. Let me know what you think.

The Jason Stapleton Program - 593: A Defense of Capitalism

This is another podcast from one of the many podcasts that I like to listen to. This one is from the Jason Stapleton Program, definately worth a listen!

593: A Defense of Capitalism

"

I've had several questions come up in recent weeks. Not just questions about libertarianism or economics but specific questions related to how we answer alternate views.

I've picked out a few articles today that viewers have expressed interest in better understanding.

My hope is that you will not only gain a better understanding of the specific issues we're going to discuss but that you'll also have a better understanding of capitalism in general.

Thanks

The Jason Stapleton Program - 592: VIX, VXX And Other Financial Stuff that Matters

This is another podcast from one of the many podcasts that I like to listen to. This one is from the Jason Stapleton Program, definately worth a listen!

592: VIX, VXX And Other Financial Stuff that Matters

"

Don't worry this isn't as complicated as it sounds. But you will be able to impress your friends with some info on the market nobody else will be discussing.

We're also going to cover the GOP's trillion dollar spending bill that funds the government until September. The Republicans are doing everything they can to paint this turd as anything but a total failure, but it looks like they fear a shutdown more than fighting for the ideals they ran on.

Typical Republican shinanigans.

Finally, we'll talk OPEC and Venezuela. Oil prices are back down again, and it's putting the pinch on a lot of oil dictatorships. But there are winners. Countries like Iran and Iraq are boosting production and making money at the expense of other OPEC nations.

Lots of good stuff today.

The Jason Stapleton Program - 591: Capitalism Will Kill Us All by 2050

This is another podcast from one of the many podcasts that I like to listen to. This one is from the Jason Stapleton Program, definately worth a listen!

591: Capitalism Will Kill Us All by 2050

You might think that article came from VOX or MSNBC or some other left wing, eco-terrorist website but you'd be wrong.

It came from Forbes.

A few times each year we see articles like this discussing how capitalism is going to kill all of us and how we need to move to a more "socially and environmentally responsible" economic system.

They've been saying the same thing since the '70's.

I'm going to break down this article today and discuss why it's bogus.

In other news, 50% of you don't matter. That's the latest assessment from the boys over at ZeroHedge.com, and I think they basically got it right.

The bulk of Americans save nothing, invest nothing and contribute only modestly to the overall growth of the nation.

Fed policy centers around propping of the richest and most successful among us. You can cry about that OR...

You could just stop being part of the bottom 50%.

It's easier than you might think. Just save some money and don't live beyond your means. In a few years, you'll be part of the 50% that 'matter.'

I'm of course half joking. (Just half) The truth is government doesn't care about any of us, and the FED is acting in IT'S best interest, not yours.

Don't be fooled. Be informed.
